Summer 2023 Session Schedule

Session Dates

June 26, 2023 - August 4, 2023

Open Registration

Summer 2023 registration will be open and available from March 1, 2023 at 9:00AM through Friday, May 26, 2023.

No late registration requests will be accepted. Available seats vary by course.  Seats are first come, first serve.

NOTE: Algebra 1 is available for credit recovery reasons only during our summer session.  Per PWCS policy, Algebra 1 will not be offered for initial first-time credit during the summer through VPW.

Register for the VPW Summer 2023 Session

Summer Tuition

• VPW courses are $375/course.
• Non-Prince William County Public Schools students – The cost for a non-PWCS student is $375/course.  NOTE: Current PWCS students will receive first priority to available seats for courses.

There will be an additional charge of $35 for Driver Ed for students who are registering for HPE 2.

Orientation Information

Students will complete two orientations before the start of the semester: Program Orientation (Canvas module) and a Course Orientation (live with instructor).

The Program Orientation module will be available starting on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 8 a.m. Students will need to complete this module before the first day of the summer semester (June 26).

The Course Orientation will occur in the both the morning and evening hours on Monday, June 26, 2023. Your instructor will set the time of the course orientation which will be live on Zoom.  Students will be required to attend one of the offered Course Orientations.

Important Session Dates

Grading Periods

• First Semester (halfway through session) – June 26, 2023 - July 14, 2023
• Second Semester (conclusion of session) – July 15, 2023 - August 2, 2023
• Final Exams - August 3-4, 2023

Final grades are calculated and submitted to the student information management system immediately after final exams.

Withdraw Information

• Students have up through June 26, 2023, to withdraw from a course to receive a full refund.
• Students who withdraw after June 26, 2023, will not receive a refund for the course.
• Students who withdraw during the first week of the course will be withdrawn without penalty.
• Students who withdraw during weeks 2 and 3 of the semester will receive a withdraw pass or withdraw fail.
• Any student who withdraws after marking Period 1 (weeks 4-6) will receive no credit and a failing grade for the course.

Final Exams

Final exams will be completed online. The final exam day will be August 3, 2023. The make up day will be August 4, 2023.

Fitness Devices for HPE Students

All HPE students are issued a Polar A370 or Polar Unite heart rate monitor to be used during the session and returned at the end of the semester. All physical fitness hours are earned using the Polar A370 or Unite only. This is a requirement to take HPE 1 or 2. Students who do not pick up a Polar monitor will be withdrawn from the course without penalty.

HPE 2 Drivers Education Information

Classroom drivers education is a required component of the HPE 2 credit.

VPW will be offering the VADETs Driver Education course through our HPE 2 course. The cost for this course is $35 per student. Your instructor will provide you with the session schedule and details regarding all requirements on how to complete the drivers education course.
