Spring 2024 Term Schedule

Term Dates

January 29, 2024 - June 7, 2024

Open Registration

Spring 2024 registration will open at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023 through Friday, December 22, 2023.

No late registration requests will be accepted. Available seats vary by course.

Register for the VPW Spring 2024 Session

Orientation Information

Students will complete two orientations before the start of the term: Program Orientation (Canvas module) and a Course Orientation (Live with instructor).

The Program Orientation module will be available starting on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. Students will need to complete this module before the first day of the spring term (January 29, 2024).

The Course Orientation will occur in the evening hours on Monday, January 29, 2024. Your instructor will set the time of the course orientation which will be live on Zoom.

Important Term Dates

Grading Periods

• First Marking Period/First Semester (halfway through term) – January 29, 2024 - March 22, 2024 (39 days)
• Second Marking Period/Second Semester (conclusion of term) – April 8, 2024 - May 31, 2024 (39 days)

Final grades are calculated and submitted to the student information management system immediately after final exams.

Withdraw Deadline

Students have up until February 23, 2024, to withdraw from a course without penalty. Students who withdraw after February 23 and before the end of Semester 1 (March 22) will receive a withdraw pass or withdraw fail.  Any student who withdraws after Semester 1 will receive no credit and a failing grade for the course.

SOL

Students requiring the SOLs will need to make arrangements with their base school counselor and testing coordinator to take the SOL test.

Final Exams

Final exams will be completed online. The final exam day will be June 6, 2024. The make up day will be June 7, 2024.

• March 25-29 – Spring Break
• April 10 - Eid al-Fitr
• May 27 – Memorial Day

Fitness Devices for HPE Students

All HPE students are issued a Polar A370 or Polar Unite heart rate monitor to be used during the term and returned at the end of the term. All physical fitness hours are earned using the Polar A370 or Unite only. This is a requirement to take HPE 1 or 2. Students who do not pick up a Polar monitor will be withdrawn from the course without penalty.  VPW HPE courses will not accept word of mouth or written fitness hours from students, parents, or coaches.

Spring 2024 Polar Device Pick Up Information - for students who are approved and received an enrollment email for VPW HPE:

  • Monday, January 22, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

HPE 2 Drivers Education Information

All students registered for HPE 2 and requiring the driver education classroom component will automatically be placed in a section of Driver Ed through our partnership with VADETs.  This course will be conducted in the VADETs Canvas website. If a student elects not to complete driver education with their VPW HPE 2 course, they can do so on their own at a later date through the VADETs program directly. The cost to complete Driver Ed directly with VADETs is $119.

*Note: This is not behind the wheel/road and range training. Please coordinate with your base school before your student gets their license.
